Make Way for the Golden Arches!

Pastor Maury Davis What makes people hate God? What makes people hate Christians? What makes people hate the greatness of the country that gave them the freedom to speak their own mind? I don't know, but I know that as I have been traveling for the past 21-23 days on a 33-day journey around the continental borders of the United States, I have met some of the most wonderful God-fearing people I have ever met in my life. I have also met people from other countries that were confused about what the dream of America is all about. Then, I have met those people who, for whatever reason, have allowed cynicism, faith, and actually a deep hatred for the things of God to infiltrate their soul. I am deeply concerned about those people, and I don't know what to say to them. I just know that we need to be praying for them.

I met one lady in International Falls, Michigan who was running a latte shop. As we went into the shop early in the morning to get a latte for the journey, she began to banter back and forth with a very obstreperous personality. As we talked with her on and off, she realized that we were driving the National Day of Prayer cars, and she began to talk about Christian imperialism, how we have spread this Christian imperialistic capitalistic mentality around the world, and that is why the world hates us. She talked about the fact that the Golden Arches in areas cast a shadow on mosques, and that is why terrorists hate us. I just wondered how someone could be so infiltrated with hatred that they believe the McDonald arches were put up in the name of the Lord to frustrate the Muslims. It is amazing to me how hate colors a person's eyes.

As I share this thought with you today, my question is, "Why do you hate the very people who extend to you the grace and the love of Jesus Christ, and yet, you defend those who have a religion that has been revealed to them by a prophet called Mohammed who was nothing more than an adult pedophile." It is confusing...Jesus never hurt anyone. He lifted people up. Mohammed hurt thousands of people including the little girl that he married named Asha. And yet, we want to put them on equal footing. Something is wrong with that thinking...that is why we need to continue to pray.
