A Platform to Stand On
Recently, on a Sunday morning at our church, I received information that NBC Nightly News wanted to ask the question, “Are Christians going to turn out in droves in light of the Foley scandal?” “Has the war in Iraq and the moral failure of an accused pedophile so disillusioned and disheartened the religious right that they are going to become lethargic in the vote?” When I got through answering the reporter’s questions, I made a statement that I believe was an appropriate statement and should be considered. What I said to the very kind correspondent from NBC Nightly News is that my disappointment with an individual in the Republican party does not outweigh the disillusionment with the Democratic party’s platform.
For me to vote for any person or any party who prominently, actively, and proudly promotes the murdering of innocent children, even those in the womb, as well as the promotion of a homosexual lifestyle that we have learned in recent years from the World Health Organization is detrimental to the lifespan of the American male is unthinkable.
Recently, the World Health Organization came out with statistics that the average lifespan for the homosexual American male is 42 years of age, whereas, the lifespan for the heterosexual American male is age 75. A 33-year loss of life because of what is termed an “alternative lifestyle” is an unbelievable sacrifice for deviancy.
Beyond the moral issues that, I believe, go fundamentally to the heart of God, is the financial philosophy of this party. I sincerely believe that taking from the rich and giving to the poor is as un-Christian as anything gets. I believe that is the responsibility of the church and of Christians to minister to poor people, and I am regularly involved in that ministry. But, I do not believe that it is the government’s job to create a system of poverty that promotes itself from generation to generation by having a secret form of socialism in a society that was intended to be Biblically based on a man’s personal responsibility.
When I realized the uproar that had been caused over my statements, I was confused. I do not understand how any God-fearing person can be involved in the promotion of any person, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, who is pro-gay, pro-abortion, and pro-slavery, which I consider the current welfare system to be to generations of Americans.
I believe that the moment a child is conceived in the womb, God has a destiny and a plan for that child. To stop the birth of that child is an assault on the very gift of life that God has given. I believe that homosexuality, regardless of its political correctness, is a reproach to this nation. I would like to see the nation I grew up in returned to its rightful owner, God. I believe that what C.S. Lewis says needs to be thought about long and hard when he said, “Tolerance is the virtue of a man with no conviction.” I refuse to be that man with no conviction; therefore, you may call me “intolerant.”
