Truth and Lies
As I write the first article for a brand new column, I decided to put it on a firm and lasting foundation. In this age of political correctness and non-offensive demands on preachers in their pulpits, I have decided to simply be me. When my brother asked me to write this article and come up with a name for this blog, I almost told him let’s title it “Eat, Drink, and Be Maury.” I decided to wait and write a book with that title, so here it is…the truth as I see it.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except by Me.” He went on to say that if anyone tries to come to God any other way, that person is the same as a thief and a liar. Now, that may seem narrow minded…and I am sure for those who spend their lives worrying about what others feel, it is. I decided to quit worrying about their feelings and be concerned about their eternal salvation. I am concerned about people who have no faith or are trapped in the lies of erroneous beliefs. Only Jesus sets you free, only Jesus saves, and only Jesus offers reconciliation to God. Only Jesus died to pay for our sinful lifestyles and deviant ways, and only Jesus is coming back for God’s children.
The apostle Paul made the statement in the gospels that he was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation.
When I think of people who cry narrow minded, bigoted, and fundamentalist, I wonder if they know they are questioning an incredible Author who gave His life for His beliefs in a Roman beheading? I wonder what kind of a person thinks his/her opinion is more valuable than a Savior called Jesus? I decided, long ago, to never question Jesus Christ…I would never be that arrogant. I hope you aren’t!
That’s the truth, the eternal truth, so help me, God!
