Time Out for Athletes with Attitude
Attitude, attitude, and more attitude from the professional athletes of America...do we really want NFL football players and NBA stars to be the role models for our children?
Let me go on record up front and say that there are some wonderful Christian athletes in America, but by-and-large the media focus on the egotistical and abhorrent behavior of some of these athletes who happen to be nothing more than talented, loudmouthed thugs blows my mind! Recently, I went on Google Search and simply typed in "NFL Arrest 2005," and I found over three hundred thousand references regarding the subject.
It is hard for me to believe anyone would come to the defense of Terrell Owens except someone like Jesse Jackson who needs a cause to find a little publicity. Terrell is paid millions of dollars to play football. His continual mouthing off has frustrated his teammates and belittled his franchise. For anyone to defend him is unbelievable.
How do you think a preacher of eternal truth would be defended for demanding millions of dollars to preach which is so much more valuable than playing "catch," and then complain throughout his whole ministry?
Come on, friends...let the Eagles know that we appreciate them making a hard decision that is in the best interest of their team and their image with our kids. Believe me, twenty-five years from now, T.O. will simply be thought of as TIME OUT, which is a great place for T.O. with his childish actions.
