Christmas with No "Christ"

Pastor Maury Davis How about a little wisdom at this time of the year? I was thinking about the direction of our country, the season of Christmas, and the insanity this year has brought into our socially-polluted society.

Thank God that there are some news pundits who point out the attack on our religious freedoms, on the church as we have always known it, and on our Lord whose name is called Jesus. He is known as the Christ in His generation, and at this time of the year, we celebrate His birth. What are people thinking who want to legislate and mandate "Christ" out of Christmas? It's one thing to say Happy Holidays…I do that sometimes, but to mandate that employees and advertising not say "Merry Christmas" is ludicrous. It is anti-Christian, anti-church, anti-faith, and in my opinion, anti-American! Our wonderful country was discovered by Christopher Columbus who, in his own writings, said that the Spirit of the Lord motivated his discovery. The early settlers wrote of their desire to build a nation based upon the Bible. How did we come to the place that Merry Christmas is unacceptable? I think I know how.

We elected liberal politicians for our personal benefit regardless of moral or religious beliefs. They nominated and approved liberal federal judges who changed the traditional constitutional interpretation of the "establishment of religions" clause to include any tax-supported institution (That is why a vote for any tax is always dangerous to the people of God). Then, those judges removed prayer from school, the Ten Commandments from the walls of public buildings, and basically destroyed 160 years of wonderful American tradition. Now, they want the church to sit down, shut up, and be silent so that they can remove Christ from His own birth celebration. Only a God-rejecting heathen would do that and only a spineless Christian would stand silently by and allow his Lord to be minimalized.

We are in a battle with the spirit of Scrooge…may God send them three angels to bring them to attention!

You and I can put the "Christ" in Christmas by not bowing to the secular celebration…go to church on Christmas Sunday and celebrate. Give some love and see the joy come alive. When you meet the Bah-Humbugs of a politically-correct nature, wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
